The Adrian Dominican Sisters are seeking a person to direct the Office of Justice, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
The Adrian Dominican Sisters is a Congregation of about 365 vowed women religious and more than 175 Associates. It traces its roots back to St. Dominic in the 13th century. The Sisters minister in 13 states and in the Dominican Republic, Norway, and the Philippines. The Congregation’s Vision is to “seek truth, make peace, reverence life.”
The Director provides leadership and direction to the justice work of the Congregation. The work of the Director is to provide relevant programs and services that foster right relationships which nurture a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion and to plan and carry out educational and advocacy efforts to promote justice issues that advance the ADS Mission, Vision, and General Chapter Enactments. The director is also tasked with cultivating a culture of hospitality and being a good neighbor by engaging with others to provide opportunities for open, safe, and non-judgmental dialogue where all are welcome, as well as promoting and enhance collaboration in ADS’s integrative work for justice – e.g., social, ecological, land, restorative justice – within the Congregation and beyond.
Bachelor’s Degree in the area of Social Justice, Diversity, or related field is required, Master’s degree preferred. Qualified candidates will have at least five to seven years of experience in a position focused on education and activism in the areas of justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion and experience in facilitating and convening groups. Must have demonstrated experience in promoting education, social activism and related initiatives, such as issuing educational alerts, statements, sign-ons or engaging in issue campaigns, forming coalitions, etc.
