Community Nutrition Operations Assistant

Part-time
Salary: $15.95 - $15.95 Hourly

General Responsibilities:  Coordinates with the Central Kitchen to provide services to participants of the Congregate Dining program.  Works closely with the Community Nutrition Program Manager to provide operational support to the Congregate Dining Program. 

 

Essential Job Functions: (Reasonable accommodation will be provided, if necessary, for individuals with disabilities who can perform the essential job functions.)

  1. Serves as primary congregate Dining Site Coordinator at Sam Corey Dining site.
  2. Provides coverage at various Dining Sites as assigned by the Community Nutrition Program Manager that will include maintaining appropriate food standards, preparing the site for delivery of food, setting up food stations, greet participants, and provide a welcoming environment.
  3. Provides support to the Community Nutrition Program Manager to ensure proper execution of dining site tasks as well as ensures coverage for all Congregate Dining sites daily.
  4. Prepares and distributes various business correspondence including letters, memos, reports, and program documents.
  5. Organizes, processes and completes data entry for all month end documents.
  6. Helps maintain participant and volunteer databases.
  7. Serves as a go-to person when volunteers have questions or concerns.
  8. Provide support for registering participants for the Senior Project Fresh Program. Coordinate volunteer involvement in the registration process.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid Michigan driver’s license in good standing is required.
  • One year of clerical experience is required.   
  • Food Service experience is preferred
  • Completion of the ServSafe Food Manager Certification Course through the Michigan Restaurant Association within 6 months of employment is required.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment physical

Working Conditions:

  • The work environment varies.  When in the office, safe work practices regarding use of office equipment, avoiding trips/falls and adhering to fire regulations are required. 
  • Physical mobility is required for sitting, walking, standing, bending, and lifting/holding/carrying objects of up to 20 pounds. 
  • Must be able to move around in multiple locations with varying physical environments & barriers. 
  • Ability to enter and access information using a computer. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and vendors in person, virtually and over the telephone. 
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Sensory requirements include exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, environments, and activities. 
  • Mental requirements include the ability to handle varying and intense levels of stress.

 

Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

All employees who have access to protected health information or personally identifiable information are required by the HIPAA Privacy & Security Rule to receive training to ensure an understanding and knowledge of the Privacy & Security Rule that corresponds to their duties.  Training on the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy & Security Rule and the policies and procedures is a prerequisite for this position.  Employees who violate the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy & Security Rule will be subject to discipline up to and including termination of employment.

 

Reports to: Community Nutrition Program Manager

 

Work Location:  Lansing, MI

 

Work schedule:  Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
